Exquisite workmanship! Rare Asian Lacquer piece. Gold & Silver inlays with Abalone shells. Gold lining was acid tested by professional jeweler. Silver is assumed.
Note the phrase “可已清心”, rather than “可以清心”.
I’m 90% sure that this piece originated from China. The Crane motif reminds me of the Qing’s ranking badges, which represented the highest rank in Civil office. The materials used in this caddy are very expensive, and I do not think commoners could produce something like this…
